CHARITY

CHARITY AND GIVING BACK HAVE BEEN PART OF THE FABRIC OF THE GAME OF GOLF FOR GENERATIONS. THE LEADING GOLF ORGANIZATIONS ARE COMMITTED TO A VARIETY OF DIFFERENT CHARITABLE INITIATIVES THROUGH THEIR ORGANIZATIONS AND IN SUPPORT OF OTHER CHARITIES AROUND THE GLOBE. IN THE UNITED STATES ALONE, MORE THAN $4 BILLION IN CHARITABLE GIVING IS GENERATED FROM THE SPORT OF GOLF ANNUALLY.

GRASSROOTS GRANTS PROGRAM

Managed by WE ARE GOLF, the purpose of the Grassroots Grants Program (GGP) is to support 501(c)(3) charitable organizations or programs dedicated to increasing golf participation among those who are underrepresented in the sport: Black, Latinx, Asian, Pacific Islander, and Indigenous communities as well as women, LBGTQ+ individuals, Veterans, and individuals with disabilities.

PGA TOUR

Charitable giving has been at the core of the PGA TOUR’s mission since its formation. In early 2020, the PGA TOUR announced that all time charitable giving through the TOUR and its tournaments had surpassed $3 billion.

PGA OF AMERICA

PGA REACH is the 501(c)(3) charitable foundation of the PGA of America. The mission of PGA REACH is to positively impact the lives of youth, military, and diverse populations by enabling access to PGA Professionals, PGA Sections and the game of golf.

USGA

The USGA Foundation is the member engagement and fundraising program within the United States Golf Association, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The Foundation is focused on four impact areas that are essential to the health and future of the game: enhancing the on-course experience for all players, creating a healthier relationship between courses and the environment, celebrating traditions and preparing future leaders.

LPGA

The LPGA Foundation supports women and young people through programs and initiatives aimed at empowering them through the game of golf. Since its founding, The LPGA Foundation has touched more than 500,000 lives through various scholarship and financial assistance programs, along with its flagship junior golf program, LPGA*USGA Girls Golf.

MASTERS TOURNAMENT

At the beginning of 2011, Augusta National Golf Club and Masters Tournament Chairman Billy Payne announced the formation of the Masters Tournament Foundation – a charitable extension of the Tournament designed to annually invest in development programs for the game of golf worldwide.

EUROPEAN TOUR

Charitable giving has been part of the European Tour mission for many years. The new European Tour Foundation, launched in 2018, allows the European Tour to embark on a far greater, global philanthropic strategy. Through a programme of unique fundraising activities and the creation of empowering global charitable partnerships, the European Tour Foundation has an incredible opportunity to help improve lives and communities throughout the world.

R&A

The R&A is able to distribute a substantial annual surplus for the development of the sport as a result of staging The Open each year. Through The R&A’s Working for Golf programme, emphasis is placed on encouraging junior golf, on the promotion and progression of the sport in emerging golfing nations, on coaching and on the provision of more public golf courses and improved practice facilities.
